Schools Minister has given teachers permission to seize mephedrone, despite the drug still currently being legal

Following this week’s controversy over the drug that it is still currently legal to posses in the United Kingdom, Schools Minister Vernon Coaker has given teachers permission to seize mephedrone and other legal highs.
After being linked to the tragic deaths of Louis Wainwright and Nicholas Smith, schools have become increasingly concerned that more students are trying the drug.
In a letter to every school in England, Mr Coaker has told teachers that it is in their power to confiscate “all inappropriate items”, regardless of being legal to posses.
Next week the Government’s drug advisory body, the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD) is to present its guidance on the drug .
