Snow and ice have caused disruption to thousands of schools across England, forcing over a thousand to close

Schools across the north of England have mostly been affected, with schools closing in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Sheffield; as staff and students are unable to travel.
140 schools are closed in North Yorkshire with a further 105 in Manchester. In Salford, 100 schools were forced to close because of deep snow with 16 in Catherdale, 10 in York and 21 in Wakefield.
Problems with heating have also led to schools in Norfolk to close.
The south west has also faced problems, with more than one hundred schools closed in Cornwall due to icy roads.
With more snow forecast this week, there is more disruption expected as the snow is predicted to spread to the south east.
