Chancellor George Osborne has revealed in his Budget statement that education spending in England could be cut by as much as 25 per cent over the next four years

The ATL teachers’ union has warned that such a huge cut will mean inevitable staffing cuts, with teachers and lecturers already facing a two-year pay freeze from 2011.
Details of the spending review will be announced in October although the new government has assured schools it would protect spending for the next year.
Christine Blower, of the National Union of Teachers, has argued that cutting funds for schools and other related services will harm children and young people.
Most importantly Blower questions with such cuts planned, where the government is going to find money for its free schools policy programme.
The Chancellor also announced that single parents would have to start work when their youngest child started school, instead of currently waiting until 10 years, or face losing their income support benefit.
