Crucial exams delayed by snow

Examinations regulator Ofqual has revealed that almost 200 exams were cancelled due to the January snow, piling the pressure on many students now forced to sit missed exams later on in the year

A total of 14 schools and colleges were forced to cancel examinations due to the weather conditions but are allowing some students to be graded on work already completed. Those taking A-level re-sits, however, will have to apply for special consideration to obtain a grade based on other work.

Chairwoman Kathleen Tattersall has thanked support staff, teachers and examinations officers for hard work that enabled the majority of educational insitutues to remain open and exams to go ahead as planned.
